Material Matters: The Concrete Brands Behind Every Portland Pour
What sits under the surface decides how long concrete lasts. We source from eight trusted pro-grade manufacturers, Ardex, Sika, Mapei, Laticrete, BASF, Rust-Oleum, Quikrete, Sakrete, and match each system to the specific job, climate and load. Every project gets a free written estimate before we start.

Eight Concrete Material Systems We Spec in Portland
No single brand fits every job. We select the product line that matches the surface type, expected load, moisture exposure and local climate, then install the full system to manufacturer standards.

How the Right Concrete System Protects Your Investment
Concrete durability is built in layers. The base mix, the waterproofing membrane, the repair mortars and the topcoat sealers all work together to resist Portland's freeze-thaw cycles, salt exposure and moisture. Consumer-grade products often skip the testing that pro-grade lines undergo for these conditions.
Each application demands a different approach. Ardex and Mapei self-leveling systems flatten interior slabs before finish coats go down. Rust-Oleum epoxy handles garage floor traffic and chemical spills. BASF systems carry forklift loads in warehouses. Matching the product to the job is where half the durability comes from.
Installing to manufacturer spec also protects your warranty. We apply the full system, primer, body coat, topcoat, exactly as published, which keeps both the product warranty and our workmanship warranty valid. That documentation goes to you at handoff.
Our selection process
How We Choose Concrete Materials for Your Project
-
Evaluate the site and conditions
We assess what the slab will face: interior or exterior, foot traffic or vehicle load, wet or dry, freeze-thaw exposure, and what substrate it bonds to.
-
Select the right product line
We pick the brand and full system built for those conditions, not a mix of mismatched products from different manufacturers.
-
Follow manufacturer installation specs
We install to the published standard for surface prep, temperature, coverage rates and cure time, which preserves both product and workmanship warranties.
-
Document and hand off
You receive the product names, technical data sheets and care instructions, so any future work is compatible with what we installed.
Material & brand questions
Concrete Brands & Product Selection, Explained
How we choose materials, why it affects durability, and what it means for your warranty and long-term performance.
They explained why the self-leveler and topcoat they chose outperformed the cheaper kit I found online. Two years later, the floor looks like day one.
Foundation waterproofing done with a full system, primer included. The basement stayed dry through spring melt for the first time since we bought the house.
I asked for a specific epoxy brand for the garage. They confirmed it would hold up to our climate, installed it to spec, and handed me the product sheet and care guide.
The documentation was thorough, exactly which products went down and how to maintain them. Made it easy when we added a matching slab the following year.
