Lithium Battery Manufacturing Floors Built for Portland Facilities
Lithium battery production floors face a dual challenge: resist organic electrolytes and lithium spills while maintaining ESD-dissipative properties for sensitive cell assembly. Portland Concrete engineers and installs hybrid concrete systems that meet both demands, with full documentation for compliance and audits. Call for a free written estimate.

Emerging industry spec
Why Lithium Battery Floors Require Hybrid Engineering
Battery manufacturing is a young industry with floor requirements that don't overlap with traditional industrial work. The slab must resist organic electrolytes and lithium spills (a chemical-resistance problem), while also dissipating static charge safely during cell handling (an ESD problem). Neither pure chemical-resistant nor pure ESD flooring solves both.
A standard chemical-resistant concrete floor will fail under static-sensitive assembly. A standard ESD-dissipative floor won't survive electrolyte exposure. The hybrid system we install combines urethane chemistry for spill protection with conductive elements for static dissipation, grounded to your facility's electrical system.
We work with your process engineering team to confirm the exact battery chemistry, electrolyte type, and ESD resistance range your operation requires. The spec is then engineered per zone, because clean room concrete floors in sealed areas may differ from open assembly zones. Our broader industrial concrete services cover any non-battery areas of your facility.

How We Build Lithium Battery Floors in Portland
-
Assess chemistry and ESD needs
We meet with your engineering team to document the battery chemistry (lithium ion type, electrolyte composition), solvent exposure, required ESD resistance range, and any clean-room adjacency. This drives the entire spec.
-
Prepare the concrete slab
The existing slab is diamond-ground to remove all contaminants, old coatings, and surface debris. The prep profile matches the hybrid system's adhesion requirements, leaving a clean, primed surface.
-
Apply hybrid system
The matched urethane-epoxy hybrid is applied in layers, with conductive elements embedded throughout. Grounding straps are installed at engineered points to tie the floor to the building's electrical system.
-
Test and document
After cure, megohmmeter testing verifies ESD resistance at multiple points across the floor. Chemical-resistance ratings are documented, and the full compliance package is delivered for your records and customer audits.
Dual-spec advantage
One Floor, Two Critical Concrete Functions
Treating a lithium battery floor as only a chemical-resistant slab or only an ESD floor leaves half the job undone. The hybrid approach solves both because battery production demands both. Your facility's process engineering team specifies the resistance ranges; we engineer the concrete system to meet them.
Coordinate with clean room concrete floors in sealed-process zones, and with our manufacturing concrete services for any non-battery production areas. Each zone gets the right spec for its function.

Common questions
Lithium Battery Floors, Frequently Asked
Electrolyte chemistry, ESD resistance ranges, hybrid system design, and installation in operating facilities.
Hybrid chemical/ESD system across our cell assembly zones. Three years of operation, electrolyte spills cleaned up without floor damage, ESD verification still in range. Engineering for both requirements is what made it work.
They knew the EV battery industry was different from standard manufacturing or standard ESD work. The hybrid spec made sense once explained; the install matched the spec exactly.
Different system in our pack assembly zone (more vehicle-load) than in cell assembly (more ESD). Right tool per zone, not one floor everywhere. The match is what we needed.
Documentation package supported our customer audit for an OEM contract. The compliance side mattered as much as the install quality. Real industry awareness.
