Reflective Concrete Floors in Portland Built to Last
Polished concrete transforms an ordinary slab into a hard, reflective surface that requires minimal upkeep and lasts for decades. We grind, densify, and polish your existing concrete to a finish you choose, soft satin or mirror-bright gloss. No coating to peel. No surface to replace. Just durable concrete.

The slab itself
Why Polished Concrete Beats Coatings
When you polish concrete, you're not applying a layer on top. You're transforming the slab itself into the finished surface. Diamond grinding removes the top layer, exposing the aggregate and matrix beneath. A chemical densifier hardens that exposed surface into a tight, low-pore structure. Then polishing brings it to the gloss level you want.
The result is a surface with no coating to fail, no finish to reapply, and no layer that can peel or scratch through. The polish is integral to the concrete. Maintenance is straightforward: damp-mop weekly, and the floor stays bright and clean for decades.
This same principle guides our approach to stained concrete and epoxy floor systems. We also offer micro-topping overlays when the existing slab needs prep work before polishing can begin.
The process
How We Grind and Polish Your Concrete
-
Assess slab readiness
We measure moisture levels, check for cracks, old coatings, and surface damage. If the slab needs prep, we recommend a micro-topping overlay to create a clean, uniform base for polishing.
-
Grind progressively finer
Diamond tooling removes the top layer in multiple passes, each finer than the last. This exposes the concrete matrix and removes surface imperfections, preparing it for densification.
-
Apply densifier and seal
A chemical densifier hardens the exposed surface, locking it into a tight matrix. We apply stain protection as part of the system to resist spills and everyday wear.
-
Polish to your gloss level
Final grinding passes bring the slab to your chosen finish, satin for a soft look, semi-gloss for balance, or high-gloss for mirror-bright reflection. Buffing completes the clarity.
Your options
Polished Concrete vs Other Floor Finishes
Epoxy flooring is a seamless coating that offers more color and pattern choices but requires recoating every few years. Polished concrete is the slab itself, with no coating to maintain.
Stained concrete adds color through dyes worked into the slab and pairs well with a polished or sealed finish. Micro-topping is a thin overlay that prepares an unsuitable slab for polishing. Self-leveling underlayment corrects flatness issues before any finish is applied.

Polished Concrete Floor FAQs
Gloss levels, slab conditions, density and maintenance for polished floors in Portland.
Polished the whole main floor after the kitchen reno. The reflectivity makes the whole room look bigger and the maintenance is just a damp mop once a week.
Picked a satin gloss level instead of full high-gloss for the basement. Soft underfoot look, hard as can be, and the kids' toys roll cleanly across it.
They tested the slab first and recommended a micro-topping before polishing because of some surface cracks. Saved us from a polish-over-cracks disaster, exactly the right call.
Stain protector is doing its job. We have spilled coffee and red wine and both wiped up clean. Maintenance is way less than the hardwood we replaced.
