Fire Pit & Fire Table Pads in Portland

A concrete pad is the natural base for an outdoor fire pit or fire table, non-combustible, level, sized for the seating around it, and built to handle Portland freeze-thaw. Portland Concrete pours the pad as a stand-alone or as part of a wider outdoor living plan, finished to match the patio and walkways nearby. Every project starts with a free written estimate.

  • Non-combustible concrete pad
  • Sized to seating and fire feature
  • Finished to match the yard

What a Fire-Pit Pad Should Actually Do

A fire-pit pad has three jobs. It carries the weight of the fire feature itself, gives a non-combustible base for embers and heat, and provides the level, sized seating zone around it for chairs or benches. Skip any of those and the pad either fails or makes the fire feature unsafe to use.

We pour the pad on a compacted base with the right thickness for the fire feature, finished broom for traction underfoot, and sized so the seating around it stays back from the heat with proper clearance. The shape, round, square, free-form, follows what suits the yard.

Fire-pit pads tie cleanly into the rest of the yard's concrete, into a patio for evening seating, between an outdoor kitchen and a pool deck, or as a stand-alone gathering point in a backyard.

How it works

How We Pour a Fire-Pit Pad in Portland

  1. Pick pad size and shape

We work out the fire feature you are installing or already have, the seating you want around it, and the clearance from the house and other features, then pick the pad size and shape.

  2. Excavate and base the pad

The pad area is excavated to depth, a compacted granular base is laid for stability and drainage, and forms are set to the finished shape and a slight slope to shed water.

  3. Form and pour fire-pit pad

Air-entrained concrete is placed and screeded, finished broom for traction, with proper reinforcement and thickness for the fire feature and the surrounding seating load.

  4. Cure and ready for fire-pit

Control joints are cut on layout, the pad is cured to schedule, and you take handover with the date it is ready to hold the fire feature and host the gathering around it.

Fire Pits Anchor an Outdoor Gathering Space

A fire-pit pad is rarely the only outdoor concrete on a property. It pairs naturally with a backyard patio for seating around the fire, with an outdoor kitchen for evening cooking nearby, and with a pool deck for poolside gathering.

Designing and pouring it as part of the wider outdoor living plan means the finishes match, the elevations line up, and the fire feature reads as part of the yard. Built that way, it becomes the gathering space everyone uses.

Common questions

Fire Pit & Fire Table Pad Questions, Answered

Size, clearance, non-combustible bases and how fire-pit pads fit a Portland yard.

Sized to the fire feature plus the seating around it plus clearance. The pad has to hold the fire feature centrally, give seating a stable base, and keep proper distance from the house and combustible structures. We size it for your specific feature.
Yes. Concrete itself does not burn. A properly built concrete pad is the textbook non-combustible base for a fire pit, fire table or chimenea, and the surrounding clearance keeps the heat away from anything that can burn.
Most. The pad accommodates fire pits, fire tables, chimeneas and even custom built-in features. We confirm the fire feature you have or plan to install when sizing the pad and the clearance around it.
Either works. Tied in, the patio and pad read as one continuous space, ideal when the seating spills over. Separate, the pad becomes a distinct gathering point. We design to your layout preference.
Not when poured and detailed properly. Air-entrained concrete with reinforcement and proper control joints handles the localised heat of a fire feature, especially when the feature itself is built to direct heat upward.

Pad ties into the patio so the whole back of the house feels like one space. Sat around the fire on snow days and the pad does not crack or move.

Free-form pad shaped to fit a corner of the yard. Looks intentional, fits the fire table exactly, and the clearance from the fence is right where the bylaw needs it.
